Learning the content and history of the Bible, as well as the development of Christian doctrine can add depth and life changing potential to your faith. Nurturing this knowledge and growing in understanding with others is a journey made over the course of a lifetime. Confirmation Class Open to teens fourteen and above, the confirmation class runs on a two-year cycle, with Confirmation at the end of the second year. Curriculum includes the Alpha Program, basics of Christian theology, as well as the Sacraments and church history, including Anglican/Episcopal history. Leavening the studies are games, outings, and group building activities. Our young people have a great time! First Place First Place is a Bible-based, Christ-centered health program, developed over 25 years ago in Texas and is now recognized across the US and internationally. The program has been meeting at Trinity for many years. Men's Bible Study Meeting early on Wednesday mornings at 7:00 a.m., to allow participants time to get to work, the Study has in the past we have read the Gospel of Mark, the Epistles of John, St. Paul s Epistles to the Romans and to the Ephesians, Book of Revelation and the non-scriptural Epistle to the Ephesians by the 2nd century Church Father, Ignatius of Antioch. The format is simple: we read the passage and talk about it, seeking to understand the text and then apply the Word of God to our lives, beginning and concluding with prayer. Our weekly study has attracted not only men from this congregation, but also from the Presbyterian Church and sometimes the Church of the Nazarene, which gives our group an ecumenical flavor. Women's Bible Study The Women’s Bible Study group has been meeting regularly for more than six years. We recently concluded a 26-week study entitled, “Luke – New Hope, New Joy” from InterVarsity Press. In the fall of 2007, we tried a different format with a study entitled “A Woman of Balance,” a six-part study which is part of an InterVarsity Press series entitled “Women of Character Bible Studies”. We have also engaged in in a 9-week study entitled “The Fruit of the Sprit” (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) – with Old and New Testament passages highlighting each quality. Our prayer is that interested women – past, present and future members – will join us. We are an intergenerational group and our attendance varies from 5 to 12 women. We are very informal, and we welcome any and all participation – even if you are unable to attend every week. We continue to be led by the Holy Spirit to learn from His Word and we are blessed to enjoy this time together each week. Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (BCP, Page 236) Please join us on Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. For further information, call Cathy Minnetyan at 265-6851 or 323-3925 or e-mail cminnetyan@yahoo.com. Renovare Renovare is a small group format for Christian spiritual formation. Developed by Richard Foster, a leading writer on Christian spirituality, and author of A Celebration of Discipline, Prayer: The Heart s True Home and Streams of Living Water, Renovare stresses a balance between different streams or traditions of Christian devotion. Participants explore these traditions with the help of a Renovare workbook, and readings from the Christian spiritual classics, and then put what they have learned into practice by means of spiritual exercises derived from these readings. Members of each group commit to continue for a specific period of time, during which they offer one another encouragement and mutual accountability. There are currently three active RenovarĒ groups connected with Trinity. Please contact Fr. Christopher if you'd like to learn more and consider joining a group. Alpha Alpha meets once a week over ten weeks to explore the role of Christian faith for our lives today. We think you will find it a practical introduction to the basics of Christianity with plenty of room for debate and discussion. Meetings are informal, friendly, and non-pressured. Whether you're a regular congregant, an occasional one, or have never set foot in a church, it is an experience to enjoy and appreciate. Whether investigating Christianity for the first time or revisiting your faith, participants get a lot out of an Alpha Course. |
